Wednesday 20th May

Good Morning!!

I had a busy day at Wedmore yesterday! After completing our daily 5 we went outside and made the most of the sunshine! I hope you are all making the most of it too.. it’s supposed to be a hot one today! Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep hydrated!

Todays photo is of the huge Oak Tree that I can see outside my window. It looks so beautiful throughout the different seasons! I reckon lots of creative stories could be written about this tree!

Also, here is Miss Chorley and her family when they went on their bird watch yesterday in the beautiful fields!

1. The Daily Five - Maths

Today you are practising your subtraction with crossing over 10 and 100.

I have completed the first question as an example for you. Remember, you always start in the ones column, and you subtract the bottom number away from the top (NOT the other way around!). If you actually can't subtract these numbers without going past 0, this is where your crossing over/exchanging comes in.

In this example, you can't do 3-7. So, working on that top row, I went to the next column, borrowed 1 which made them 4 and the 3 13. I could then do 13 - 7.

Worksheet is linked underneath the daily 5 if you would like to print, here is also a picture of it!

Todays challenges are questions 7, 8 and 9!

2. The Daily Five - Literacy

Listen to episode 8 of Carrie's War:

In this episode there are a few similes, for example "Jewels winked up like bright eyes."

Remember, similes are where you say something is LIKE something else.

I would like you to write some similes of your own to describe different emotions e.g. anger, sadness, worry, excitement etc.

Oak Group:

Please write 6 sentences using 3 of each of the different spellings.  Keep practicing saying the poems too.

3. The Daily Five - Project

Another french lesson from Mr Sage for you today! This lesson is the Hare and the Tortoise (lesson 1), have a watch and a go!

4. The Daily Five - Outside Time

Complete an exercise video of your choice.

Here is a drawing you could complete outside. Instead of sitting inside behind the window, sit outside in front of the window and draw what you can see!

5. The Daily Five - Reading

Read a book of your choice and note it down in your reading log.
