Tuesday 5th May

Good Morning Year 3! I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy today’s daily 5!

For your pictures for today you have Miss Chorley and Sophie roasting some yummy marshmallows! And you also have a picture of my dog who did not stop staring at me like this until my whole ice cream was gone. All of my animals seem to love food a lot!!

1. The Daily Five - Maths

Click onto the link above, go onto Week 2 Summer Term, Lesson 2 - Subtract Fractions.

Tips from the video:

When you are just subtracting two fractions with the same denominator (bottom number), you just subtract the numerators (top numbers) and keep the denominators the same.

To simplify fractions:

When you have done your subtraction and you have the answer, there may be a chance that you can make your fraction smaller, this is called simplifying. To simplify a fraction, you have to be able to divide the top number and bottom number by the SAME number.

If you find this too difficult, just focus on the subtracting! You could get someone in your house to give you 2 fractions to subtract!

2. The Daily Five - Literacy

When you have completed the project, pretend that you are going to interview someone who is inside your shelter. Report what questions you might ask and how they might answer.

For example:

A question could be: What does it feel like being in the shelter? How much space do you have?

Write down your questions and what you think the answers would be, we will use these tomorrow.

Oak Group:

Using the same worksheets as yesterday.  Complete the one’s you did not finish.

3. The Daily Five - Outside Time

Please complete an exercise video of your choice.

It is supposed to rain outside so remember to pop your coats on! Have a look at how much rain your rain catcher if you made one last week has caught. You then have the freedom to do whatever you like outside, this could be jumping in puddles or you could do another scavenger hunt, you might have different things for it since it's raining!

4. The Daily Five - Project

Before we make our Anderson Shelters out of materials, I would like you today to have a go at making a shelter out of pillows, cushions, blankets or anything else you can think of! Are you able to sit in it at the end?

5. The Daily Five - Reading

Read a book of your choice, note down what you read on your reading log.
