Thursday 14th May

1. The Daily Five - Maths

Level 3 in yesterday's game had some ABBCABBC patterns - some children only see patterns when the colours or shapes alternate rather than two next to each other. So that is what we are going to work on today!

Looking at the pictures in the PowerPoint, can your child describe the ABBCABBC patterns and finish them off?

2. The Daily Five - Literacy

Look at today's PowerPoint slide which gives more information about the Maasai Mara tribe.

For your non-fiction information books (on plain paper), colour the picture of the Maasai Mara lady (or draw a picture if you haven't got a printer) thinking about the colours and patterns. This might be a good opportunity to discuss skin colours.

Foxes Group - write two sentences about the lady wearing the beautiful necklace.

Rabbits Group - label the colours in your colouring or drawing.

3. The Daily Five - Outside Time

Using sticks, create a structure to cross an imaginary river. Will everybody's ideas be the same? The children will need to summon their persistence and resilience skills!

Share a photo on Class Dojo - let's see if they are the same!

4. The Daily Five - Project

In the resources section below, there are some craft ideas to make depending on what materials you have at home. I quite like the Maasai Mara toilet roll hut!

5. The Daily Five - Reading / phonics

Foxes Group - look at the pictures below and write one sentence for each picture in your green writing books.

Rabbits Group - look at the pictures below and write a caption for each picture e.g. 'the summer', 'a dinner' and 'fast runner'.
