Celebrating Harvest - 31 October 2013
Despite the heavy rain, the sun finally shone for a few minutes so that parents, children and teachers could walk to the local church to celebrate this year's Harvest Festival. In keeping with this year's school development plan focus, each class prepared a presentation around the theme 'healthy eating'.
Supporting our commitment to Somerset Total Communication (signing), the children learnt a song or poem and used their signing skills beautifully! The children are already very good at singing and signing our school hymns, including All Things Bright and Beautiful and Autumn Days.
In addition to donating food items to support Midland Road Drop-in Centre in Bristol, parents also kindly donated healthy food items to sell. Thank-you to all the parents...we had some wonderful items including homemade apple juice, vegetables from your own gardens and home baked cakes! After the Harvest Festival, the Year 4 children hosted the food stall and we raised more much needed funds for the Drop-in Centre.
