Wednesday 29th April

1. The Daily Five - Maths

Please complete lesson 2 of Summer Term 1 week 2 (wc 27th April) find a quarter (1) On this website you will find a video tutorial, a worksheet and the answers. Let the children watch the video, then they can either complete the worksheet independently if you are able to print it off, or in discussion with an adult talking through the answers when viewing on the screen.

This will be a difficult concept for children, I would really encourage the use of objects when finding a quarter (making 4 equal groups). This can be anything you have a lot of, even lego bricks!

2. The Daily Five - Literacy

On class dojo, watch the video of Miss Chapman read the story of the three little pigs. When you have done this I would like the children to think about what might happen next in the story if it was to continue, we do this a lot in guided reading. I would like them to write their part of the story in their work book. At school I would be expecting at least 4 sentences, but if you think this might be to hard for your child, a sentence would be fine.

An example might be that after the wolf ran away the three little pigs went on the hunt to capture the wolf and put him behind bars to stop this happening to other animals. You could introduce new characters, give the three little pigs names etc.

I would love to see some of the childrens responses to this task! This could be in video form or a clear picture taken of the writing. Add these onto your childs portfolio.

3. The Daily Five - Outside Time/Be Active

It is important that all children have at least 1 hour of exercise every day and our resident PE Mr Coggins has been provding daily PE sessions. Please can your child watch this and join in with him! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqGFKsqpWFfSsolMBXkxLKw

4. The Daily Five - Project

Today I would like the children to begin a junk model version of their own home, including windows and doors and (roughly) being the same colour. They can finish this over the rest of the week as part of their project.

5. The Daily Five - Phonics

Todays sound: /i-e/

Revisit: Revisit all sounds learnt so far using flashcards.

Teach:  i-e as in 'five' (using Mr Thorne Phonics video, this will give you a clear pronunciation of the sound - see resources below for link). Write the digraph in air and on table with finger.

Practice: Play buried treasure, phase 5 (i-e). Click on the link https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/ Login using the details given (found in the home resource pack). Then click on 'resources' and then buried treasure should be the first option. Wave your mouse over the picture and it should let you click on a phase, select phase 5 and follow the steps through until you can choose your sound (i-e). Together discuss words that contain the i-e sound and write on w/b (shine, bride, nine, dive).

Apply: Parent read out this sentences: Can a slide shine all the time? Children to write in exercise books. (You may need to repeat this a couple of times so they have time to listen to each word)
