Tuesday 5th May

1. The Daily Five - Maths (Mental Maths)

Today, can the children spend 10 minutes practising counting backwards from any given number to 50. If your child can do this easily, do numbers to 100. Just like with the finding one more and one less task, ripped up bits of paper with numbers on will be fine for this. The children don't need to go from 46 down to 0. Count back 5 numbers e.g. 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41.

Then please complete lesson 1 of Summer Term 1 week 3 (w/c 4/5/2020) part whole relationships number bonds. On this website you will find a video tutorial, a worksheet and the answers. Let the children watch the video, then they can either complete the worksheet independently if you are able to print it off, or in discussion with an adult talking through the answers when viewing on the screen.

After this, can they please spend 20 minutes on their Numbots accounts. Their logins can be found in their blue home school diaries on the very first page.

2. The Daily Five - Literacy

This week in Literacy our aim is to complete the week by writing our own newspaper articles about a wolf on the loose!

Today I would like the children to look at examples of newspaper articles and learn about their features e.g. Headline, subheadings, picture etc. Please find below under today's resources, what features we look for when investigating news paper articles.

I would like the children to find these features in a model text by highlighting them and labelling what it is. The given resource has 2 copies, one with features and one for the children to highlight and label. Please also look at real examples of newspaper articles online and pick out the key features in there too!

3. The Daily Five - Outside Time/Be Active

Over the next couple of days I thought we could make our own fairy gardens. See the images below. You don't need to go out to buy anything in particular, you can use anything you have around the house or garden, e.g. small boxes, plant pots, lolly sticks, buttons, glitter, flowers, sticks, grass, plants etc. Me and Evie will make one together and upload it onto our class story on Friday, you could all do the same!

4. The Daily Five - Project

We need to learn more about our own homes in preparation for the next 2 weeks of our project.

Each day in your workbook I would like you to consider each of the main rooms in your house (Kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom) and describe what things we have in them and the things we do in them. We need to do this because over the next 2 weeks we will be comparing our homes to homes around the world and homes in the past.

5. The Daily Five - Phonics

Remembering the 'ay' sound.

Look at these 'ay' words - choose a word and write a sentence containing this word. Remember your capital letters and full stops. Do this 3 times.

Challenge: write a sentence containing 2 of the words!

Then play buried treasure with (ay)
