Tuesday 28th April

Today is Tuesday - it's a cloudy morning so hopefully we will get some rain to water the gardens.

'Keep smiling Year 2!' says Mrs Gibb
says Ms Green.

1. The Daily Five - Maths

Mental Maths:  Today we are going to have a practice of adding and subtracting using a game called:  NUMBER FACT FAMILIES.  I would like you to have a go to 50 and if you are confident then have a go to 100. You will need to fill in the missing numbers and symbols, to help you use your ‘100 Square’.   GOOD LUCK!!

White Rose Maths:  PARENTS (we are a week behind so please click the link find week Summer Week 1 lesson 1)

Here we go:

FLASHBACK 4:  We are finding thirds again.  You also might like to have a cuboid like a cereal box at the ready to count the sides.

(ALWAYS PRESS PAUSE SO YOU CAN GET ‘FLASHBACK  4’ DONE IN YOUR OWN TIME.)

Remember when you are dividing by 5 your bar model will look like this:

45

For today’s lesson is all about Finding ¾ (three quarters).  I might be a good idea to have 4 squares of paper ready divided into quarters.  Then as you go along you can colour your quarters.  Also have some Lego or counters ready to use.

REMEMBER if you get stuck you can watch the video again to have another go!

Then have a go at the activity – Well done!

4. The Daily Five – Project

This week we are making a poster telling people to SAVE THE CORAL REEF.

You will need a piece of paper.

Today you are just doing the title!.

Now have a chat to your adult and decide on a 'catching' title for your poster.

Here are some titles from last year's posters!

5. The Daily Five - Reading and Reading Comprehension

As well as finding some interesting facts about the Coral Reef I would like to remind you about Non-Fiction Books.

I have made a power point showing you different parts of a non-fiction book. Then you are going to choose two sea creatures which you can draw on your poster and label with a short interesting fact.

Information all about a non-fiction book and The Coral Reef
