1. The Daily Three - Maths

Going back to the part-part-whole model to support addition, we are going to repeat the activity but this time, add writing the "number sentence" and use abstract recording. In mastery level maths, we move from the concrete to the abstract but the concrete must be secure first. This is also moving on from partitioning 5 to adding numbers to make 5. If your child struggled with the concrete objects, continue using objects today.

Write 5 in the 'whole', then using dots, make 5 by drawing the dots into the 'parts'.Write the "number sentence" underneath e.g. 5+0=5



2. The Daily Three - Literacy / phonics

Today's digraph is 'ai'. 


1. Go through the Phase 2 and Phase 3 flashcards (in the resources on the previous page).

2. Watch 'Mr Thorne does Phonics' here.

3. Make the sound together..."ai, ai, ai". 

4. Explain that there is also another 'ay' sound in words like the days of the week. In your green writing books, write draw three things that end with 'ai' and write the word underneath. 



3. The Daily Three - Creative

Continuing on from Monday, watch 'Austin's butterfly' on YouTube again but this time watch it with your child, explaining that we are going to make our butterfly even better! On A5 paper, try to draw the outline of the butterfly again, looking in detail at the shape of each wing. Come back together and kindly critique. How can we make it even better next time?
