Thursday 4th June

1. The Daily Three - Maths

Keep returning to yesterday's activity until the knowledge is secure and your child can order the number cards 10 - 20 (this may take a few weeks!). The next stage is to match the numeral with the correct quantity of objects.

Lay the number cards in order from 10 - 20. Using small objects (buttons or currents), place the correct number of objects on or underneath each card. For some children, they will need to match the object with the drawing. Some children will need to place the objects in a line to do 'good counting'.

2. The Daily Three - Literacy / phonics

Today's digraph is 'th'.

1. Go through the Phase 2 and Phase 3 flashcards (in the resources on the previous page).

2. Watch 'Mr Thorne does Phonics' here.

3. Make the sound together..."th, th, th". 'Th' can make a "thin noise" like 'then' or a "fat noise" like 'thick'.

4. In your green writing books, write draw three things that begin with 'th' and write the word underneath.

3. The Daily Three - Creative

Watch 'The Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle or read it together if you have it at home. See if your child can recall all the items that the caterpillar ate. Have a look at the video and photos of our class caterpillars - what will happen next?

Paint a picture of a caterpillar, thinking carefully about shapes and colours. When it is dry, label each part of its body (adult can write the different labels on post-it notes and then your child can use the initial sound to 'read' the label and copy the text onto the painting).
