We had such a fantastic day at the SS Great Britain!
We started the day with a Brunel workshop where we learnt all about how the ship was made. We even had a go at using special equipment to connect the metal plates together using rivets, take a look at us being engineers in the photos! When we had finished building the ship we got dressed up as victorian adults/children to celebrate the ship setting sail for the first time - just as they would have done back in 1845! Tillie and Xander even got to throw the bottle of champagne at the ship.
After our workshop we then had a guided tour around the ship itself. We went on the weather deck, into the first class passengers dining hall and bedrooms, steerage, the doctors surgery, the galley and last of all to the infamous talking toilet!!
