Roman Visitors and Architects - 22 October 2014
On Monday last week, we had a visitor to Sapphire Class: Julius Claudius Maximus, Roman legionary from the 2nd Augusta Legion, The Eagles. Julius came to show us the various weapons and armour used by legionaries in the Roman Army. He also talked to the children about what life in the army was like, allowing them to try on some of the armour and ask questions about him and his experience.
On Tuesday, we learned about Roman Architecture and built a temple from canes and elastic bands. The temple was an impressive structure, engineered very simply but which stood taller than the children and stretched the entire length of the school hall!
