Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday Parade

Children from Weare Academy First School joined the Weare Brownies, Guides and Scouts to parade through the village on Sunday morning. Bunting and flags lined the route and the church bells rang, calling everyone to the church for a family service to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. There was standing room only in the packed church, joyous hymns to sing, musical instruments to play and an amusing talk by Rev Judith Jeffery about the Queen which involved the whole congregation. The service ended with a wonderful performance by the school children as they sang and signed Happy Birthday followed by a toast to Her Majesty and a slice of birthday cake baked and decorated by the guides.
