Today the Year 4 children brought in their begonias, which they had planted on their educational visit to Tanyard Farm Nurseries, in May. They potted the plants themselves, with help from Mrs Hilary Cox, and were advised how to take good care of them in order for a chance to win the growing competition.
During the visit, each group were taken on an informative tour of the strawberry-growing side of the nursery by Mr James Halford. Additionally, each group made a hanging basket with Mrs Barbara Huett, who manages the Cash and Carry plant centre. One of the hanging baskets was kept and looked after by Mrs Huett and was presented to the winner of the growing competition today. Congratulations to Millie Pargeter, for growing an even set of begonias which were well fed and watered! Runners up were Sam Beckett, Ella Hill, Lewis Duggan and Hannah Cook. Well done, green-fingered growers!
A big thank you to all the staff at Tanyard Farm Nurseries, including: Mrs Huett, Mr Halford, Mr Le Prevost and volunteer, Mrs Cox.
