A monster start to school! - 17 October 2013
To celebrate Children's Book Week and to raise funds for the renovation of the school library, the staff and children dressed as monsters last week! Each class spent the morning creating a piece of monster-themed piece of art for the new library.
The day also helps to introduce the school's newest pupils to reading. The Reception Class children enjoyed making caterpillar bookmarks, going on a book treasure hunt and making a monster themed piece of art for the school's library. Somerset Literacy Network loaned a fantastic monster-themed reading gazebo in which parents read their favourite childhood story to groups of children. Local cartoonist and parent, Mrs Wedlake drew some fantastic monsters with the children - coming soon in our refreshed library!
The Year 4 'buddies' chose their favourite book to share with the Reception children, utilising all their wonderful reading skills.
