Monday 1st June

From now, I will be providing 3 activities a day to support home learning. This will consist of a Literacy, Maths and Topic task. Our new topic is 'Wild Things' to support our new science topic 'animals including humans'. This week we will be focussing on minibeasts!

1. Maths

Please complete the first maths lesson from this week, 'measure mass'. On the website you will find a video tutorial and under today's resources you will find the worksheet.

Let the children watch the video, then they can either complete the worksheet independently if you are able to print it off, or in discussion with an adult talking through the answers when viewing on the screen.

2. Literacy

Pie Corbett - Talk for writing

At Weare we follow the talk for writing approach by Pie Corbett to support our Literacy and English teaching. This week we will be using one of the free resources to support learning at home that the talk for writing website have provided, and guess what, the story is all about a spider! Very fitting with our minibeasts focus.

The story and the whole unit of work is available by following this link:

Today, Please read the story (pg 3-4) and complete the first activity which can be found on page 5 and 6. "Share the story of Sidney the Spider with a grown-up and talk about the story together. Then fill in Sidney’s sticky notes - I liked, I want to know and I was surprised by". This can be done in your workbooks by writing the headings.

3. Topic

Our new topic is 'Wild Things' and we are focusing on wild animals, This week Minibeasts!

Today, Please discuss and list all of the minibeasts you know and where you think you might find them e.g. Worm - In the soil.
