Eeeeeeeeeeeeek it's Friday - Dark is Fascinating! Chapter 5

1.The Daily Five – Maths

Mental Maths:

It’s Friday when you finish today let me know how you have done:  If you have earned less than 10 000 coins your challenge is to reach at least 10 000 coins by Friday.  If you have more than 10 000 see if you can earn 20 000 coins.  Some of you have more than 20 000 coins, please keep going!!

Remember that your login is in your home learning pack or blue home school book.

After revising our 5 times table we are now going to learn about how to tell the time.  You have already learnt about o’clock and half past but we do need to look at quarter past and quarter to.

First you could make yourself a clock and fold it into half and then half again and colour each quarter a different colour.  Then you can add in the numbers.  Then cut out a longer minute hand and a shorter hour hand and label them.  If you have a paper clip or split pin attach the hands so they can turn.  You can use this to practice showing different times.

NOW have a look at the time learning Starting Time in Year 2.  Then have a go at using the learning clock on this link (using o’clock, half past and then quarter past and quarter to)

Now complete at least two of the worksheets:  Telling the time at the bottom of the page.

2. The Daily Five – Literacy

TODAY'S Phonics for all group:  Common Exception Words – please practice writing 6 of the words three times each and then use them in 4 sentences!
