Good Morning Year 2!

Hello Year 2 - hope you are all well!
Winnie the Pooh is lonely so I read him a story,

1. The Daily Five - Maths

First: Numbots mental maths practice today. I have just checked and most of you have scored lots of coins.  Keep it up, well done!

Secondly:  This week we are looking at fractions.  Maths Rose Hub has a set of lessons.  

Using the link go to Week 1 Lesson 1 -   Watch the powerpoint and have a go at answering the questions. If you are not sure of the answer there is a set of answers for you to check at the end. 


2. The Daily Five - Literacy

Daily Phonics:

Pine and Maple group:  

This weeks sound is:  oy as in 'boy' using Mr Thorne Phonics video

Practice: together discuss words that contain the (oy) sound and write on w/b boy, toy, enjoy.

Then using the set of 'oy' words from your set of green cards and write each word 3 times. 

Holly Group: This week's sound is - ir' 'as in -' Watch the Mr Thorne Does Phonics ir on You Tube, this will give you a clear pronunciation of the sound -

Watch Mr Thorne twice, the first time just watch it then the second time pause after each word and copy it into your workbook.  Then you can practice each word two more times.


Oak Group: Our new sound this week is dge. You will find your words by watching Mr Thorne does phonics on this link.

Watch it once through and then watch it again pausing it so you can write your words list in your workbook. Then practice each word three times.


Easter Activities:

Year 2 are doing the Resurrection part of the Easter Story.  Using your work book and ruler divide your page into 4 equal parts.  Then label each part: 1. Last Supper, 2. Jesus is crucified, 3. The Tomb and 4. Easter Day Jesus is alive. Draw a picture and write a sentence for each one.

Bean Diary:

I do hope that you are looking after your bean plant and measuring it once a week to see how it is growing.  Keep measuring and drawing how it's changing during the holidays please!

Please read every day - follow the instructions to log onto Oxford Owls.  Please continue to keep a record of how many you have read using the card in your home reader folder.
