In the main school:
Our on-site kitchen
We have a own production kitchen, which has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Our friendly kitchen staff provide our pupils with a healthy hot dinner every day. The meals produced in our kitchen are extremely popular with our pupils, who look forward to choosing from our delicious and varied menu.
Breakfast and After-School Clubs
Our popular Larks and Nightingales clubs provide wrap around care for our pupils, opening from 7.50am until 8.45am and from 3.30pm until 6.00pm on every school day. Both clubs are held in the main school hall, but they also make use of the wider school grounds when the weather is dry. Find out more about our clubs here.
Within our school grounds:
Our playing field
We have a very large playing field, situated at the back of the school, which our pupils use all year round for a range of physical education activities, Forest School, environmental study, team building activities, after-school sports clubs and of course, for playing on.
In the summertime parents gather on the field to cheer their children on, as they race down the track on Sports Day! The school annually invites the whole community onto the field, to join in the Summer Fun Fayre, run by our wonderful PTA.
Our swimming pool
Our outdoor heated swimming pool is used extensively by all our pupils throughout the summer months. To ensure that our pupils make the most of this fantastic resource, all of our teaching staff are qualified for the tuition of water confidence and swimming and every member of staff at Weare School is trained annually for relevant first aid and resuscitation.
Our swimming pool is OPEN TO ALL OUR FAMILIES at the end of the school day and throughout the summer holidays! We do, however, stipulate that children are supervised in the pool at all times, and that any adult supervising children in the pool, must attend our parents and carers resuscitation training (held on-site, before the pool opens for the summer term).
Our Forest School
We have our own dedicated area for Forest School, which includes trees, foliage and a special log circle, where pupils can sit and share their stories or talk about the discoveries they have made, during their investigations of the school grounds. We sometimes light a fire to inspire discussions, to cook food sourced from the school's own garden and to warm us up in frosty weather!
Our school garden
We have a beautiful school garden, within which every class plants and manages their own plot. We also have our own greenhouse for bringing plants on. We experience a wide range of gardening skills from learning to prepare the ground, to growing and harvesting vegetables and flowers. It is always a great pleasure to experience the waft of tasty homemade soup or freshly baked apples in school!
